Reflection on use of ICT for the month of October.

Sometimes its hard to adjust the available resources in the school because of its importance. Almost all the teachers understood the need of students learning and also known how effective the learners learn when taught through these facilities. (I mean ICT)

On 29th of this month I came to the school well prepared with the lesson and video clips downloaded from you tube, but the sad thing was I couldn't show and teach them as expected. the very reason behind is due to lack of facilities in the school.

If there were enough ICT facilities like projectors, I am pretty sure I could have done in a better way and students too could have learned and understood better. Though my teaching (use of ICT) was not very visible to my students I made them to sit close together to see and listen what was shown in the only laptop I could use.

Therefore I expect there be more facilities available in the school for better learning and teaching.

Types of landforms( teaching through projector with few videoclips)

The day before I taught a lesson on different landforms just reading and explaining from the text. I should say that most of the students couldn't understand the lesson, because most of them couldn't response to my questions. So I thought, I should try the same lesson with the use of ICT and reteach them. On 29th of September, 2021, I taught the lesson on types of land forms.(mountains, Plateaus and Plains) The lesson went very effectively as per my view because all the students were very active and most of them responded to my questions. I made them to volunteer and read the slides. i also made them to give their own explanation on seeing the pictures of landforms. they could give a try to make their own explanation on different landforms.

Teaching them through slides was not only the media I used, I showed them few video clips for them to make more understandable. The video made them to understand more on the lesson. 

After comparing the two lessons, with and without use of ICT, I could say with the use of ICT we can give effective and more information of the lesson we teach.

The above is one examples of the video I have shown to my children.

After watching few videos and asking questions on how landforms are formed, they could give the answer as per their understanding which means they have understood what had been taught and shown to them.

Therefore I strongly believe ICT can be a main medium of lesson tools to make students understand.

                                   Reflection on teaching lesson with use of ICT.

on 9th of September, 2021 I went to class II with full of confidence to teach mathematics lesson on addition using number line. I was confident because I could sense that children would learn more than what they had been learning in other days. the reason is I took a step ahead to teach them using the modern technology. 

Students were overjoyed as I showed them the lesson on the screen. in some of the lessons we do not teach them with integration of ICT, so the learning interest in them is seen lower than the lesson taught using ICT. To me it doesn't mean teaching without the use of ICT keeps children without understanding the lesson but it is somehow take children to understand faster and clearer. when used ICT, I personally feel children could understand much more, it could be because of the interest they put on when using ICT.

When teaching was done using ICT, the classroom was full of sharing and interaction when they were given activity to do. Unlike the normal traditional teaching children enjoy learning when they were taught using ICT. They also learned more easily when taught through ICT.

when I teach the addition of numbers using number line, almost all the children understood the lesson, for those who couldn't catch I showed them again and again. After showing for several times they understood the lesson. I was satisfied with the ways and means I used to tech my children.

To check their understanding, i provided them with a worksheet each to do the addition activities. "They did it". With much satisfaction, I proudly thanked my students for being so attentive in the class and told them 'you should be attentive at all time in the class while teachers teach you.

Reflection on the lesson taught

 

On 18^th of August 2021, I had a lesson with class VII students. The lesson I taught to them was on Natural and Human Induced disasters. The use of ICT has rapidly increased within a short span of time and in the field of teaching and learning too it has become a necessity. In today’s world people have seen ICT usage in all field. And in schools, we use ICT not just in planning and keeping records, but we use it for teaching purposes. The usage of laptops, projectors and even the browsing of information through google net has become more of use. Almost all the profession around the globe uses ICT to express, inform, teach, and learn to advocate any kinds of information they have to do for others and self.

So I also used some of the available ICT resources to teach my students in class VII. I prepared different slides for the types of disasters. Added with few downloaded videos of disasters in the presentations children could understand it easier. They also could think more on the topic and tell the answers correctly. The advantages I found with the use of ICT in teaching and learning is, if the lesson wasn’t clear we can go back and revisit it, clarify the information. Children also enjoys more with the use of ICT integrated lessons than the normal old style of teaching. They could also share some of the ideas and knowledge the acquired from the lesson, discussion or interactions becomes more in the classroom after the lesson.

Here after the lesson children could tell how disasters happen and tell some of the ways to prevent or tell the precautions of disasters. More than the children I as a teacher enjoyed the lesson and the satisfaction is almost all the students understood the lesson.

The world of technology appears to be more comfortable not only in other fields but also in teaching too.

Reflection on the lesson taught

Teaching in any method is to make the learners understand the lesson. But it differs in the level of understanding.  (The ICT used in teaching are, Laptop, Projector and mobile.)

On 22^nd June, I taught a Geography lesson in class VII on natural resources. Teaching lesson without ICT and with ICT integration makes a vast difference in today’s world. In the past and sometimes these days most of the teaching are done without ICT integration. Teaching without ICT to the students these days is monotonous and provide less information. So it’s important to teach in a different method or let’s say “Teaching with ICT integration.”

I taught my students using ICT on the topic Natural Resources. I used the projector to teach with the PPT presentation prepared. Children were able to understand more when they were taught using the ICT and presented in PPT. the reason could be while teaching using ICT, we can show them again and again if they have doubts. The explanation of the PPT further make the lesson effective and efficient.

When teaching was done using ICT, the classroom was full of sharing and interaction when they were given activity to do. Unlike the normal traditional teaching children enjoy learning when they were taught using ICT. They also learned more easily when taught through ICT.

When students are taught without using ICT, the teacher and the students have to do a lot of interaction and they need a lot of teacher’s guidance. Whereas when they are taught a lesson through ICT integration, they brainstorm and do a lot of research among themselves. So when they interact, they learn a lot. Besides interacting, they were also given a time to explore using mobile.

Therefore I prefer teaching my students using ICT as students also learn more through ICT integration.
